Home of Hope
"I was a criminal, until I allowed god to work in me and use me for his purpose" was the statement Raja popularly know as Auto Raja, chose to introduce us to his work. A juvenile from the streets of Chennai, uneducated and under qualified for any work, cursed by the family, yet RAJA was the chosen one by God.
A privilege of having met this man of unusual faith his actions spoke more than words. The expressions of each individual we saw who reacted to the warmth given by Raja and the passion he showed to the destitute was an eye-opener. The actions of Raja took us back to the story of Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). The New Ark Mission was started on the same objectives.
Raja supporting 450 destitutes with voluntary methods of funds in a 3,000 sq ft building. Homogeneity or a quality of being in a state of similarity was seen on the premises. There was no comparability between the old and young, elite and poor, Christians and other religious sects or between the healthy and the infected. The smiles were mutual, they gave us stories we gave them time to listen, they gave us their past and we gave them our warmth and they gave us love to be loved back by us. To conclude we equipped our minds with having 'services as a responsibility according to his purpose' willed for us. Home of Hope gave each of us insight on how our patriotism towards religion cannot be bound to church, preaching or to worship but to show humanity and help the needy and the unfortunate.
