Fellowship Visionary
In the Christian church, a presbyter was an administrative officer who ranked between a bishop and a deacon. Initially, it was the duty of the presbyter to keep order, implement discipline, and oversee the affairs of the church. However, in the fourth and fifth centuries, presbyters acquired sacerdotal powers, and were allowed to celebrate communion, baptize, and perform other sacraments. In time, the position evolved into that of the priest we know today. |
